Week of May 19-23
Carnival fun!!!
We are in our last full week of the school year! Where has the time gone? Remember when the middle school seemed scary and locker combinations were intimidating? LOL! I will truly miss my kiddos, but look forward to watching them grow throughout the years!
We finished our last Daily Grammar today. We decided to do Monday-Thursday, with some guidance from me, and then that will be our last grammar grade. The kids nailed it, and I feel that they have shown a lot of progress in their skills this year. We are still practicing our parts of speech boot camp and will do a few review games to end the year.
Riding Freedom has hooked us and we are loving the story! We read chapter 8 today and will finish the book by Wednesday or Thursday. I had hoped to do a lot more activities, but time will not allow. However, I am relishing the opportunity of just enjoying a really good book with the kids:)
We have finished up our physical science unit and will do a quick quiz tomorrow. We will be dissecting worms this Thursday!
Please keep in mind:
- there is a 2 hour delay this Wednesday
- 4th grade award ceremony is May 27th @ 1:15. Parents welcome!
- May 29th - last day for students - early dismissal @ 1:45
Enjoy your sunny week!

Week of May 5-9th
Hello, again! We are officially done with our OAA testing and are headed to the count down to summer. However, there is still more learning to do!
This week in reading, we are starting the book Riding Freedom. We are reading it together in class and will review vocabulary, simile, metaphor, characterization, theme, and extended response questions. We have also started book groups. Students will be reading a book together and discussing topics that they found interesting. This is a good way to get kids reading and talking about what they read! Students are to complete the reading and their group discussion topic outside of class. We then meet in class to review what we have read. It is important that students come prepared with their portion of the discussion completed.
We are learning about matter, physical and chemical changes and types of energy in science. We will be experimenting and discovering as we finish out the year. We will also conclude with our earthworm dissection lab, as a review of animal adaptations.
A few things to remember:
Enjoy the sunshine!
