Week of April 7-11th

This week we are continuing our poetry unit, and focusing on figurative language. We will be looking for poetic devices in song lyrics and practicing rhyme, rhythm and meter. We are also learning about the elements of drama and prose and comparing the three types of literary works.
I stressed how important it is for students to give me their best work. I know the year seems to be winding down, but we have a lot of learning left! Please check and double-check homework, and make sure that best effort is given in all aspects.
In science we are finishing up our Rock CD's and will do a fossils lab this week. There will be a rock and fossils quiz on Friday.

Please keep in mind:

  • Grade cards were sent home Friday, April 4th.
  • There is a 2 hour delayed start this Wednesday, April 9th
  • There is NO SCHOOL Friday, April 18th
  • We will be going to camp Nuhop for our OAA day on Thursday, April 24th (a letter will be sent home this week)
  • Reading OAA is scheduled on Tuesday, April 29th
  • Math OAA is scheduled for Thursday, May 1st
Have a terrific week :)
