Week of September 23-27th

Eye am sew looking forward two teaching homophones this weak!!

Yup, it's that time! There, their, they're, to two, too, your, you're. This week in Language Arts we will be having fun with homophones.

We have read the first five chapters of Owen Foote, Mighty Scientist and will be working on vocabulary and comprehension skills in class this week. We are still learning about perspective and point of view. We will begin reading The Great Kapok Tree that will review fact and opinion and perspective. We will conclude the unit with persuasive writing  next week.
In Reading last week we listened to classic stories of The Three Little Pigs, Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Sleeping Beauty. We discussed the point of view of each classic tale. Then we read a similar story yet it was told from another character's point of view. The kids did an excellent job with this skill and enjoyed reading a "flipped" version of the classics.

We are still working on Scientific Inquiry skills; this week focusing on lab tools and measurement. We will be demonstrating how to use each tool in an inquiry lab later this week. If students have access to the internet at home, Study Island is always available for them to log on to and practice skills in the Science (New Learning Standards) section (you can find this link in the Resources tab).

  • Interims will go home on Friday with students. Please either sign the interim or the agenda stating that you have seen your child's interim.
  • Just a reminder that recorder/book money is due this Friday for music class.
Have a onederful weak :)
