Week of Feb. 17-21

This week we are diving right in to our book "Stone Fox". This is a literature unit developed to review our elements of fiction that we have been learning. Students will be reading the books in class and practicing how to use evidence from the text to support their answers and comprehension of the story. Students are allowed to highlight and underline in the book as they will be able to keep their own copy. This was purchased from their student fee list.
We are also starting spelling this week by reviewing words with prefixes. Students will receive the word list on Monday along with a practice page. This will be due on Tuesday. Tuesday's assignment will be a story that uses their spelling words in context and is due Thursday. We will practice the words again on Thursday and a test will be given over 10 of the 20 words on Friday. This will be added onto their weekly grammar quiz.
We are finishing our narrative writing in science and starting to learn about SOIL:) We will explore with erosion and weathering this week.
Just a few reminders:

• 2 hour delayed start this Wednesday, February 19th
• Conferences are this Tuesday and Thursday
• Interims go home this Friday
• Biography Book projects are due Monday, March 3rd
