August 26-30th

We are officially on to our second week of school! Last week was a busy one and completely exhausted me. I'm sure the kids recovered much faster. Most 4th graders are feeling comfortable opening their lockers and we are getting our routines in place. Please remember to turn in all paper work ASAP and check your child's agenda on a nightly basis. You do not need to sign the agenda unless I request a signature.

This week we will continue developing our routines, rules, and expectations. Ask your child what my #1 rule is...hopefully they will be able to explain what my #1 rule looks like and sounds like!

This week we will be working on making connections when reading and finishing our pretest. We will learn about context clues and begin reading the book, "Owen Foote: Mighty Scientist". Friday I will send home a nightly reading log which I will refer to as "Monthly Minutes". Please keep this handy as it will be due at the end of the month (September) for a grade.

In science we will be learning about lab roles, lab tools, and the scientific method. We will begin our Science Notebooks and do a few experiments.

Our annual 4th grade field trip to Lyme Village will be Friday, September 6th. Information will be sent home the beginning of the week.

If you haven't filled out the parent contact form that was posted in my previous blog, please take the time to do so. I have already used the information received to contact a few parents. It really helps!

Have a terrific week!
