Week of Sept.2-6th

I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend! I hate to say good-bye to summer, but I am looking forward to all that fall has to offer.
On Friday, I passed out September Monthly Minutes to my homeroom. Monthly Minutes is an at-home reading incentive for students to take part in. Students set a monthly reading goal and keep track of their minutes that they read on a daily basis. At the end of the month the student adds up their minutes and has their parent sign to verify that the minutes are legit. We will keep a chart in the room and students will receive recognition and a treat if they complete their minutes every month!
This week we are still focusing on daily grammar and context clues. Students will complete a reading selection and practice their use of context clues and synonyms. There should be no homework this week other than Monthly Minutes.
We will be finishing up our Skittles science experiment and reviewing the scientific method in science this week.
I am looking forward to our field trip this Friday to Lyme Village. Students are to bring a sack lunch and a drink ( no soda, please). They may also wear a backpack to carry their lunch in. Please dress for the weather. Check out their website http://www.lymevillage.com/ to see what our 4th graders will be experiencing!
Have a wonderful week!
