Week of October 21-25

We had our first "marble" party for respectable behavior on Friday. My last period language arts class earned the reward and the chose to have a video game party. A fun time was had by all as we danced to "Just Dance" on the Wii. I must say, 4th graders really know how to party! We had a fruit bowl, goodie bags, and some candy treats. What a blast :)

This week we are spicing up our writing by using the thesaurus to find synonyms for words we often use. We are getting deep into our mystery books and recording clues and suspects to help solve our mysteries. October book projects are due next Thursday, October 31st. I am excited to see all of the different mystery books that were read as well as the creativity used to describe their stories.

We are continuing our study of classification and are learning how plants are classified. We will do a quick experiment to view how vascular plants function and add notes and vocabulary in our Science Journals. Mr. Nelson from C.A.C.Y will be spending time with us on Tuesdays in Science. He is presenting a class called "Too Good for Drugs". We will also be going to the Environmental Classroom and the Noble Rd Landfill on Thursday, November 7th. I will need 5-6 parent-volunteers of students in my homeroom. If you are interested please send me a note or email to let me know!
