Kapok Tree Persuasive Writing

Written by: Emma D.

Dear Senhor,
Please, please do not chop down the gorgeous Kapok tree. We are tree porcupines and have seen you begin to chop down this tree. If you chop down this tree I will not have leaves, plants, fruit, or the tissue beneath the bark to eat in order to survive. Also, we are very clumsy and will die when we are forced to move down to the ground. We need these trees because we spend most of our lives in them. They are my home. So please, don`t bother this wonderful tree or you will be harming many animals, including us.
Sincerely,
Amber T. Porcupine

Dear Senhor,
Please do not chop down the fantastic Kapok tree. I am a Jaguar I climb trees to get food I can eat. I need food to live. I am very secretive and I do not hurt people. I am nice. Don’t  take my kindness for granted. Don’t cut down the great, Kapok tree. I am the third largest cat in the world so I need plenty of space to live. Please do not cut down the great Kapok tree or I will die and there will not be any more jaguor. Please, Senhor,  this is where I live. I will die if you cut it down.

Desperate to live,
                                                                                                                                                         Jaguar

Dear Senhor,
I’m a howler monkey. We howler monkeys live up on average, 15 to 20 years. I spend most of my life in this beautiful, colossal Kapok tree. It keeps me safe from all the predators in the rain forest so they can’t eat me or all of the other animals in the rain forest. If you cut down this Kapok tree, all my memories will be lost forever. You will lead us all to die if we have no oxygen from the Kapok tree. Where will I find my food and where will I live? This is my home. Please don’t cut down this Kapok tree.
Desperate to live,
                                                                                       Howler Monkey

Dear Senhor,
I am a porcupine. PLEASE don’t cut down the majestic Kapok tree! If you do cut the Kapok tree down, then you will come back for another and another and soon the forest will be gone. I spend most of my life in trees, and we eat tissue beneath bark and fruit. If you cut down the forest, I will become homeless and I will starve. You will cut my life short and destroy it. You will destroy what gives us life. Once every forest or tree is gone you will destroy what has given you life. Tell me, do you really want to destroy yourself, the life of animals, and the beauty of the earth?
Desperate to live,
                                                                                                                                                  Porcupine

Dear senhor,
Please do not chop down this colossal kapok tree. I am a tree frog and this is my home. tree is in my name.  I climb trees like the kapok tree. It  keeps  me away  from danger. This awesome tree, the kapok tree, keeps me keep shaded and cool from the beating sun. I eat insects and insects eat plants. Without the kapok tree I will starve. You will chop down all trees in the rain forest. You will also set fire to the remains. Please don’t chop down the kapok tree. it is a home to many creatures.
 Sincerely,
The tree frog
