Week of Nov.4-8th

This week we will be traveling to the Environmental Classroom and Rumpke Landfill on Noble Road. The Environmental Classroom explores science in a hands-on environment. The students will learn about conservation and perform simple experiments that deal with scientific inquiry, life science, and physical science topics. Students are asked to pack a brown bag lunch as their waste from lunch will be sorted and recycled. After lunch, we will travel to the landfill and learn how it works and ways to prevent waste.

In reading this week we will learn about inferences and how it is important to use information from the text to make a reasonable inference. Students will bring home an inference bag in which they are to put 3-5 items (evidence) inside that describes or explains what they are going to do or like to do. The class will then put their "clues" together and try to guess what it is they are sharing. We will be explaining our Nov/Dec book projects this week and finishing our Mystery books.

We are learning about plants and their functions and adaptations this week in Science. We have discussed and classified leaves and why they change colors in the fall. We also learned how to use a dichotomous key to identify which tree a leaf came from.

CONFERENCES are this week (Tuesday & Thursday). Please call the office to schedule a time if you are interested in meeting with us.

November Monthly Minutes were passed out to students on Friday. Please keep track of minutes read for the month. November minutes will be due on Monday, December 2.

Have a fabulous week!
PS...I finally found a way to keep the kids quiet...LOL!
